It is my belief that ICT is an integral part of the modern classroom. Students and teachers alike are spending more and more time interacting with technologies and I believe that is in our best interest to use technology and ICT as a tool to engage students in the classroom and learning. ICT has the power to be a great tool however I also believe that it is important for it to be used alongside other strategies in order to expose students to a range of different modes of teaching and learning.
The delivery of information in a classroom is important as without it, there would be no learning. It is difficult to relinquish control over what the students learn as this is generally set by the curriculum however there is always space to give students in regards to how and who they learn from. Each student comes to the classroom with a different set of strengths and weaknesses and it is important as a teacher to not only recognise this, but give them the best opportunity to learn.
As a preservice teacher, I have limited knowledge and experience so I take every opportunity to learn and improve my teaching abilities when it comes to ICT and technologies. I have used very few ICT platforms in my Pracs so far so I look forward to engaging with this course and learning about the different ways ICT can be incorporated into the classroom.
